Through his nonprofit organization that he founded when he came home from prison, Reducing Recidivism Educational Program Services (RREPS), Emancipate NC organizer Kerwin Pittman has started a program to help formerly incarcerated individuals become paralegals.
This program is a partnership with Meredith College, Red Hat, and Smith Anderson Law Firm.
“Being able to be behind the scenes to see how this actual system works but learn about the system and the laws of this system to best help individuals not only who they may be working for, their employer, but also take it back to their community,” Kerwin stated.
Once you finish the program, you are guaranteed internships and then a job. If you know someone who is interested, you can contact Kerwin through RREPS.
