Protest Defense Nuts and Bolts 2.0

Quisha Mallette, Jaelyn Miller, and bex kolins will expand on last year’s Protest Defense panel that focused on defending individuals facing criminal charges related to First Amendment activity. In addition to legal strategies, attendees will hear from experts who are currently on the ground as well as experienced in doxxing defense. This panel will include a workshop component to discuss scenarios and share with fellow attendees.

Intro Into a New Practice Area: Family Defense

Jessica Fludd, Wendy Sotolongo and Margaux Lander will discuss the harms inflicted in the current child welfare system and the role of parent representation in effecting change. Our objective is that movement lawyers consider broadening their practice and awareness of the family regulation system and family defense.

Human-Informed Lawyering

Dawn Blagrove, Kerwin Pittman, and Elizabeth Simpson will lead an interactive case-study workshop that focuses on representation that centers on clients as collaborative partners. The panel will also discuss how to navigate not only your client’s traumatic experiences, but also second-hand trauma as a member of the legal team.
