In our last newsletter, we shared that on June 16, 2026, Meta Platforms permanently disabled the Facebook and Instagram accounts of Durham-based drag performer, artist, and advocate Naomi Dix and her business, Club ERA, a popular queer nightclub in Durham County, without any clear explanation or meaningful process. Just days later, Dix and Club ERA filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms, Inc., in Durham County Superior Court, represented by Emancipate NC Strategic Director and attorney Elizabeth Simpson.

We’re happy to share an update: Following negotiations between Ms. Simpson and Meta’s attorneys, the Instagram accounts for both Naomi Dix and Club ERA have been restored.

Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this important outcome! Be sure to follow Naomi Dix and Club ERA on Instagram for future updates.
