On April 16, the City of Raleigh presented the results of a community engagement campaign about Alternative Crisis Response. The results are clear! With thousands of responses, in person and online, residents of Raleigh/Wake County overwhelming want an unarmed crisis response team like the HEART Team in Durham — one that is independent from police, one whose members look like the community they are serving, and one that is compassionate and unarmed.

Emancipate NC’s Jaelyn Miller attended the meeting, along with members of the Raleigh HEART Coalition and One Wake. The Raleigh City Manager shouted out the Coalition and the report thanks us for our contributions. You can check out the report here. The City of Raleigh even asked the Coalition for ideas about what the new team should be named!

It’s hard to come up with a new name, so we need your creative help!
