Emancipate NC joined movement partners from across the state at the Walk Together: A 2026 Movement Building Convening for Voter Protection, hosted by Forward Justice, North Carolina Asian Americans Together, and the North Carolina Black Alliance on July 23–24, 2026, at the Bennett College Global Learning Center in Greensboro.
The convening brought together advocates, organizers, and community leaders committed to protecting North Carolina voters and building a stronger, more coordinated movement for democracy. Grounded in the belief that lasting change has always come through collective action, participants shared strategies, resources, and solutions to address evolving threats to voter access and participation.
Dawn Blagrove represented Emancipate NC as a panelist for a discussion on Jefferson Griffin‘s challenge to the results of the 2024 North Carolina Supreme Court election and the subsequent voter “curing” process. Panelists examined the legal and democratic implications of the challenge, including efforts to disqualify ballots and the importance of ensuring every eligible voter has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
The Walk Together convening reflected the power of collaboration across movements and communities. Participants engaged in strategy sessions to identify emerging threats, strengthen voter protection efforts, and build a statewide network capable of responding to challenges facing North Carolina voters.
As threats to democratic participation continue to evolve, Emancipate NC remains committed to standing alongside partners and communities to defend voting rights and ensure that every voice is valued and protected.
