On April 13, 10:00am – 4:00pm, at Shaw University, come and learn why Confederate monuments are not harmless relics of the past. Emancipate NC is co-sponsoring this symposium with the NC Commission on Racial and Ethnic Disparities in the Criminal Justice System (NC CRED) and others to center harms these monuments inflict today as part of the case for their urgent removal. After hearing from multiple perspectives, participants will leave:

  • Better able to articulate the harms caused by Confederate monuments
  • Inspired to take action by having heard examples from leadership who have taken action
  • Armed with practical knowledge about how to proceed with local efforts
  • Connected with others with whom they can work
  • Aware of efforts underway that they can personally support

Team Emancipate’s own Dawn Blagrove will be moderating a panel called Consequences of Confederate Monument Removal.
