Congrats to Kerwin on his receipt of the Conen Morgan Trailblazer Award at the NC Black Summit!
In Kerwin’s own words:
“When your work speaks for you, even in your absence, you know you’re walking in purpose. I am deeply honored to have received the 2026 Conen Morgan Trailblazer Award from the North Carolina Black Alliance during their 20th Annual Black Summit.
This recognition means a lot to me because it reflects the journey, the struggles, the growth, the faith, and the commitment to building something bigger than myself, just as Conen Morgan was committed to.
Although I wasn’t able to be there in person to accept the award, it meant the world to know that my family, Dawn Ellzey Blagrove, stood in the room and accepted it on my behalf. That kind of support and love is priceless. To have people walking alongside you, lifting you up and celebrating the work, is a blessing I never take for granted.
This award isn’t just for me, it’s about the people we serve. It’s about every person who was once counted out but refused to give up. It’s about turning pain into purpose.
I’m grateful to the NC Black Alliance for this honor and to everyone who continues to walk this path with me.”
