Stories like that of Darryl Tyree Williams are why we’re fighting to bring unarmed crisis response to Raleigh. What if Raleigh had HEART?

Here are some updates from the campaign the past 2 weeks!

Last week, Jaelyn Miller and Kerwin Pittman met with Raleigh City Council members Christina Jones, Mary Black, Jonathan Melton, and Megan Patton to discuss the implementation of Holistic Empathetic Alternative Response Teams (HEART) in Raleigh.

Emancipate team members also met with the members of Addressing Crises through Outreach, Referrals, Networking, and Service (ACORNS), a group dedicated to connecting with individuals in crisis and providing them with the resources needed to meet their individual goals.

The Raleigh HEART coalition continues to grow with 5 new organizations dedicated to seeing unarmed crisis response in the city: Carolina Jews for JusticeACLU North CarolinaDemocracy Out LoudDaybreak Oneness Ministries and Forward Justice.
