The North Carolina Central University’s new Social Justice and Racial Equity Institute (SJREI) is hosting a gala and you’re invited! This celebratory event to launch the Institute will bring together community members and social justice advocates who are committed to working together in the spirit of social and racial equity. Team Emancipate’s Dawn Blagrove is on the SJREI advisory council.
Featured at the event as keynote speaker will be Irving Joyner, renowned civil rights attorney and NCCU law professor. Joyner is an expert on civil rights, race, and the law. He was also recently honored by Governor Roy Cooper’s 2023 during Black History Month for his critical work in the legal field and justice system.
