Dillon F. Sharpe is a civil rights attorney dedicated to defending the rights of individuals and promoting justice. He plays a vital role in Emancipate NC’s Don’t Plead to Weed campaign and passionately advocates for protesters and organizers facing criminal charges.

Sharpe’s journey to law began during his middle school years at James E. Shepard Middle School in Durham, NC. Inspired by wearing all black in solidarity with the Jena 6, he decided then to pursue a career as a public defender.

A proud Double Eagle, Sharpe earned both his undergraduate degree in Political Science and his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University. Starting his career as an Assistant Public Defender in Charlotte, NC, Sharpe zealously defended over 500 clients charged with misdemeanor crimes, including 49 district court and 4 jury trials. Known for holding the State accountable and challenging unconstitutional practices, he has built a reputation as a fearless advocate.

Outside the courtroom, Sharpe enjoys playing basketball, giving back to his community, and spending time with friends and family. Through his work and passion, Dillon Sharpe continues to make an impact in the fight for justice and equality.
