Emancipate NC Executive Director Dawn Blagrove recently participated in the Southern Partners Fund Conference, lending her voice and expertise to a session titled “Voter Engagement in Immigrant Communities.” The session, which also featured Deidra Harper of Organize Tennessee, brought together movement leaders from across the South to strategize around building political power in immigrant and marginalized communities.
During the discussion, Blagrove addressed critical topics including voter education, rights and protection, voting restoration, suppression, and redistricting. She emphasized the importance of shifting the narrative from individual rights to collective community power, urging participants to see voter engagement as a tool for systemic change rather than a one-time act of participation.
In addition to contributing to the panel, Emancipate NC shared several of its community training templates—resources developed to equip regional partners with tools to educate, mobilize, and empower local communities in the fight for democracy and equity across the South.
Through this collaboration, Emancipate NC continues to expand its impact beyond North Carolina, strengthening alliances and deepening the collective effort to ensure every voice—and every vote—counts.
