On May 14, 2025, Emancipate NC Attorney Dillon Sharpe secured another win for a Don’t Plead to Weed client in Wake County District Court.
Our client was pulled over for driving slightly below the speed limit. She cooperated fully and answered the officer’s questions — and was still charged with Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Misdemeanor Possession of Paraphernalia.

Dillon came to court ready to go to trial and Make Them Prove It.
When the officer failed to appear, the prosecution asked for a continuance. Dillon pushed back, arguing that the State had no grounds to delay. District Court Judge Christopher Brooks agreed and denied the State’s request.
The result?
Our client walked out of court with a clean record.
If you’ve been charged with marijuana possession, don’t plead — make them prove it.
