James Richardson Sr. has been wrongfully incarcerated for more than 15 years for crimes he did not commit. On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, James finally has a chance to present newly uncovered evidence—evidence the State withheld during his trial—that supports his innocence.
His legal team, from the Southern Coalition for Social Justice and Tin, Fulton, Walker & Owen, has filed a Motion for Appropriate Relief and is asking the court for a full hearing on the case. The conviction against James was built on a physically impossible theory, prosecutorial misconduct, contradictory witness statements, and racial bias.
