Emancipate NC Organizer Toia Potts was honored to speak during the Opening Fireside Chat at the Ujima Collective Think Tank Convening, hosted by the National Adoption Association in Washington, DC.
Held at the Salamander Hotel, this powerful gathering on June 20th brought together more than 100 leaders, young protégés, Afrocentric scholars, and elders to reimagine the family policing system and explore ways to strengthen Black family connections.
Toia opened the event alongside a fellow family advocate in a moving conversation moderated by Dr. Pryce. Their heartfelt dialogue brought authenticity, healing, and truth-telling into the room, setting a powerful tone for the entire weekend.
The conversation sparked deep reflection and clarity, laying the groundwork for a transformative gathering centered on community, cultural celebration, and liberation-focused strategy.
