Grievances against law enforcement officers and police disciplinary records are usually kept secret from the public due to state laws that shield them from scrutiny. These laws protect bad police officers at the expense of the public’s right to know.

Today, Emancipate NC launches its own database of police misconduct reports — because #WeKeepUsSafe. Any individual can use the Emancipate NC form to report a police encounter, upload video, photographs, or other evidence, and share their information with the USA Today’s national police misconduct database.

Check it out here: Report Police Encounter

Share it with your friends and family. Our communities have the wisdom and the data we need to keep us safe from rogue police. By crowd-sourcing this information, we will be able to analyze departmental trends, mobilize campaigns for accountability, and file more effective litigation.
